BRASS BAND OF BATTLE CREEK CHOSEN TO PERFORM THE GRAND FINALE AT THE MIDWEST CLINIC’S 75th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT
The Brass Band of Battle Creek (BBBC) was selected as the featured final performer for the Midwest Clinic’s 2021 concert, the largest gathering of band and orchestra musicians worldwide. This year’s concert celebrates the Midwest Clinic’s 75th anniversary and takes place from December 15-18 at McCormick Place West in Chicago.
Known internationally, the Midwest Clinic advances instrumental music education through extensive professional development opportunities and inspirational experiences. It’s also the largest convention of its kind, representing the United States and 26 foreign countries. Approximately 514 clinicians and 353 organizations with their 1,304 guest conductors, and 465 soloists, have performed in the clinic’s 46 years.
“The BBBC invitation to perform as the featured finale performance at the 75th Anniversary Midwest Clinic is an honor of mind-boggling proportion,” notes Jerry Rose, BBBC Education Director. “The opportunity to serve a supporting role in this great organization is a dream that most musicians and ensembles will never experience.”
The BBBC is internationally recognized for the caliber of their music and performances, establishing themselves as one of the premier brass/percussion ensembles in the world. “To be invited to perform the finale concert of the Midwest Clinic’s 75th Anniversary is a unique recognition of musical excellence from an organization that prides itself on a tradition of outstanding performances,” adds Shannon Aikins, Executive Director of the BBBC.
Through a close relationship with its local audience and generous support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the band has seen its membership grow to include some of the finest brass/percussion performers in the United States and Europe. These respected musicians will also coordinate a series of artist outreach visits to area band programs and invite selected student musicians from three different counties to perform with them on stage.
For the many supporters off the BBBC, discounted lodging and transportation packages will be available to attend the Midwest Clinic concert series. For more information, please contact Shannon Aikins, Executive Director, at 269.789.2222 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
