Young Musicians, Guided by Masters
Each summer, students from the Battle Creek area and beyond participate in the BBBC Youth Brass Band camps. Camps are held at both the middle school and high school levels, and provide students with the opportunity to learn from and perform side-by-side with all-star BBBC artists and prominent area music educators. In addition to full band rehearsals, students participate in sectionals and faculty-led discussions on playing techiques, conducting, jazz improvisation, and careers in music. Enrollment in these camps has grown substantially in the years since the COVID pandemic, with over 100 students participating in both 2023 and 2024. The BBBC artists and music educators perform together with the students during the camp-ending concerts, which are entertaining and inspiring for both the audience and performers.
